Richard K. Jolliffe. Location: San Jose, California History: Years ago I used to restore Ducati singles. At one time, to my ex-wife's chagrin, I had five of them in the garage. Life, job, kids, divorce, law school, etc.got in the way and, over the course of time, I divested myself of the bikes. After moving to California, the dormant Ducati itch resurfaced and I found this 860 for sale in San Francisco. It was running but in terrible shape. Cosmetically it was horrible, parts were missing, things such as the instruments were attached with hose clamps, etc. After a few spins around the block, I tore it down to the bare frame and began a "ground up" restoration over a nearly two-year period. Curiously, the time was so long because I had friend doing the paint work and, since it was free, I couldn't ask him to hurry. It took him about seven months to get it done. Next project in parts in the garage is a black 860GTS.
